The Solander Program has been created to stimulate scientific endeavour within the medical, scientific and technological fields. The program is directed towards the students and staff of the faculties of Medicine, Science and Engineering in all five universities, which includes the Institute of Technology in Lund, the specialised Research Institutes of the University of Queensland, and the Faculty of the Built Environment at the University of New South Wales. The program also encompasses independent Institutes and Centres of Excellence associated with the participating universities, such as the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research at the University of Melbourne. Each participating faculty or institute contributes financially to a common centrally-administered fund that is used to support applicants from the same university.
